When I retired from IBM, my plan was to travel and paint. Little did I know how far that would take me. Art was a vehicle, and it became a passion. Kinda funny because in these past two years, I did little traveling and painted more! But that was fed by all the different people I had met, and places I had already been… I am always seeking my own way of doing things. Still I treasure the instruction, workshops, and groups of artists that have contributed to my art journey. And the community of people who had come to visit us at RiverWinds Gallery, which remains dear to me. My studio space is messy, but I find that sterile space is not helpful to me. I need a certain amount of chaos to energize my work. This house came with a ping pong table. So I set up four stations; one for oil painting, one for drying panels and canvasses, one for framing and a multipurpose space for laying out references, doing thumbnails, etc I put up a cat tree for my kitty -- she however prefers to sit in my chair. She scolds me in the morning to tell me it is time to go downstairs to paint (I give her treats!) She is always hopeful. That’s me at the moment… thrilled to have places to show my work, and to have people who care in my life.
8 (maybe 9) Things I Must Have to Paint
